I am Laurie Beesting and live on Bowen Island, BC. I emigrated (with my husband Andy) to Canada in 2011 from UK, where I was a mainstream school teacher for 20 years.I graduated back in 1990 (B Ed hons) and worked in mainstream primary education teaching all subjects- but specializing in math, English and music.I now teach math, piano, recorder and English privately, but my passion for math took an exciting new direction when I started to write my learning program/book Bridge the Gap Math™. (See www.bridgethegapmath.ca for further info)I work daily with both mainstream and homeschooled students …and love my job to bits! These days, I am finding that ‘Intermediate math education’ and all that surrounds it, is the new heart of my work; I have found something which sets me alight- both to talk about and teach!
Laurie will be bringing us 1 workshop:
‘Let’s talk about Intermediate Math’
A presentation on how we can help our children be secure in Intermediate Math fundamentals and grow in confidence to be ready for (or cope better with) G7 and high school math.
Laurie will talk about Intermediate math issues, challenges and perceptions… and demonstrate some methods, ideas and tricks to firm up fundamentals, taken from her program/book Bridge the Gap Math™
